Welcome to North Idaho Mineral Club

Welcome to the North Idaho Mineral Club web site. We support rockhounds in Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Priest Lake, Hayden and all regions of the North Idaho Panhandle with field trips, workshops and our annual Gem, Mineral, Rock and Jewelry Show.

The general objectives of our club are to promote interest and education in the various earth sciences; especially geology, mineralogy, paleontology, lapidary and many related subjects. Most of all we have a good time doing this with friends who share interests and contribute to the benefit of all.

The North Idaho Mineral Club is affiliated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies and the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies.

Our mailing address is in Hayden, ID and we hold our monthly meetings in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

A 'Hidden' Gem
February 15, 2015

While we were preparing for the March Northwest Gold Prospectors Association Gold Show where we will have a booth, we found the following stone sitting in a cheap gold-filled pendant:

We took the stone out of the pendant, as it is a 6-ray Idaho star garnet, 20mm round, weighing in at 36.5 carats and it is worth more than all the rest of the jewelry we will be selling put together.

Mineral Club at Gold Show
February 6, 2015

The mineral club has paid for a booth at the Northwest Gold Prospectors Association Gold Show in March. We are looking for club member volunteers to help set up and man the booth at the show. Setup is on March 20 and the show is on March 21 and 22.

We are attending the show because they were looking for vendors who sell jewelry and we have much jewelry from a member's collection that we can otherwise not dispose of. This should be a fun time, so all members are invited to volunteer. Contact if you are interested.
